|
The Critical Languages Program (CLP) was created for strongly motivated persons to undertake self-instructional (not independent study) courses of study in some languages not available among the University's regular offerings (hence the name "Critical Languages"). NOTE: All courses are restricted, and are very small classes (4 to 10 students). Students must register by filling out CLP registration materials available online or in the CLP office. To obtain a copy, you may either e-mail us, call us at 504-280-6934, or stop by the office (Liberal Arts Building, room 251). Pre-registration materials are available in advance according to the UNO academic calendar. Those contemplating such courses must therefore begin their planning as early as possible before the beginning of a semester. Enrollment is in all cases subject to the University's ability to locate native speakers and professionally qualified persons capable of both monitoring and evaluating the students' work. Three credits are available for such courses per semester. Due to state budget cuts, we are no longer able to offer non-credit enrollment options. Credits earned may be counted as part of the 120 credits needed for graduation, but may only be used to fulfill any departmental or college language requirement if the student has received written approval of the appropriate administrative officer (the form used for this purpose may be obtained in the College of Liberal Arts office). CLP classes are offered during Fall and Spring semesters (summer classes are not offered). |
